WinGS Career talk のお知らせ

On January 16, We will hold an open seminar by Carmen Ortiz Mellet, a researcher invited by SG-FResHU at the Support Office for Female Researchers.

Prof Carmen Ortiz Mellet holds a full professor position at the University of Seville (Spain).

Brief explanation of her career: Carmen Ortiz Mellet received her Ph. D. degree in Chemistry from the University of Seville (Spain) in 1984, where she was appointed Tenure Professor of Organic Chemistry in 1987. In 1990 (with a five-years old son – Pablo – and a 15 days old baby – Jose Manuel)

and 1995 (with an additional member in the family – Carmen) she did not hesitate to move to another country to work as a visiting researcher in Grenoble (France). Since 1998 she is responsible for the Carbohydrate Bioorganic Chemistry Group at the University of Seville, being promoted to Full Professor in 2008.

According to her trajectory, she is an active researcher being one of the few women of her generation who has broken the glass ceiling and reached one of the highest positions in the academic world.

In this talk she will explain her research and life career trajectory, followed by a round table in which we can address questions, concerns and get/provide suggestions.
